All of your sessions at Stepping Stones will last 50 minutes.
During your first appointment, you will have the opportunity to explain your current concerns from your perspective. Your psychologist will ask you about the background of the concerns and will discuss other relevant information. You will have the opportunity to discuss your goals and the estimated number of sessions to help you achieve those goals. Your psychologist will also explain the nature and limitations of confidentiality and go through the client consent form with you.
If you are presenting to Stepping Stones with your child who has seen other professionals, it is often useful to bring any reports written by those professionals to your first session, if you feel they would assist your psychologist in understanding your concerns.
If you have a Mental Health Care Plan, Chronic Disease management Plan or referral letter from a Paediatrician or Psychiatrist, please bring this along to your first appointment. This will ensure that you are able to claim any elligible rebates through Medicare.
If you are accessing services through either the Helping Children with Autism, the Better start for children with disabilities initiatives, or National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) please email your child's letter which confirms their eligibility to receive these services prior to your initial consultation.
Please feel free to email any questions you may have prior to your first visit to info@steppingstonesqld.com
If for some reason you are unable to attend your appointment, we require 48 hours notification to avoid cancellation fees.
